Things That Shape Us

So much of what shapes us lies beyond our control - our environment, relationships, histories, traumas, and the expectations placed upon us. This body of work explores the tension between the internal and external self: between how we feel and what we choose to reveal.

The vessel becomes a metaphor for being, offering both protection and containment while holding layers of emotion, experience, memory, and hope. What is visible on the surface does not always reflect what lies within. Just as no two vessels are the same, neither are the lives nor experiences they evoke.

Working primarily in porcelain, these delicate forms harness the material's translucency, allowing light to pass through and suggesting vulnerability while exploring the fragility of the human condition. Yet porcelain is also remarkably strong, its resilience mirroring our own. Torn rims and fractured edges represent the emotional, physical, and psychological scars carried through life, their raw imperfections speaking to the quiet complexities of personal history.
